Artist in Training
As part of our committment to expanding the creative economy, we invite young Artists to join our team to collaborate and co-create new and exciting programs with our talented Artists in Residence to gain mentorship opportunities like no other.
The Program
The Artist in Training program is designed to immerse young and emerging artists in engaging, real-world opportunities. Guided and mentored directly by one of ABG’s Artists in Residence who regularly lead our youth-centric healing arts programs, each Artist in Training is provided hands-on professional development and networking opportunities while focusing on a capstone project over the course of six months.
The Artist in Training program is currently designed with visual artists in mind and is committed to expanding our offerings as the program continues to evolve. Sign up for our newsletter to stay updated.
Selection Process
The Artist in Training program is designed with intention and each cohort of Artists is carefully curated as a means to support each cohort holistically. Therefore, cohorts—ranging from 2 - 3 Artists—are small to enable as much one-on-one mentorship as possible. Our process includes a standard application with portfolio submission. We do not look for experience; we look for potential. The ideal candidate is a person committed to lifelong learning.
Like any ABG program, we take an empathetic and understanding approach to our Artist in Training program and recognize how committing to a program like this can be nerve-wracking so we encourage any interested Artist in reaching out with questions that they may have. For more information, please connect with ABG’s Director of Education, Ariella Kirschbaum.
